TETTRIs

E-mail von Michelle Price vom 17.02.2022:

Dear CETAF Directors, Dear CETAF Representatives, Dear CETAF Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure that we, the CETAF EC, announce that the group of 17 dedicated project partners, under the coordination of the CETAF General Secretariat and with the external professional support of Catalyze, submitted the CETAF community proposal for the Horizon Europe Cluster 6 call “BIODIV 01-02: Building taxonomic research capacity near biodiversity hotspots and for protected areas by networking natural history museums and other taxonomic facilities” on Tuesday the 15th February.

The proposal is named Transforming European Taxonomy through Training, Research, and Innovations (TETTRIs). Divided into 9 work packages, it forms a starting point to build knowledge and systems for the development and interconnection of taxonomy training, tools, services, expertise, reference collections and career development actions, all within the framework of integrative taxonomy. If granted, one-third of the requested sum will be dedicated to capacity-building pilot projects in biodiversity hotspots, for which we expect strong participation from CETAF members. The proposal was built from the bottom-up, based on the strong team spirit of the 17 partners, with a four-person core-team coordinating the scientific and strategic elements, and Catalyze providing support, overall coordination for the construction of the proposal and ensuring the administrative processes related to the proposal submission.

CETAF became a legal entity in 2009, in part, to enable the process that has just taken place: the submission of a CETAF community proposal that aims to work for the community and that, if successful, will be coordinated from within the heart of the community. The collaborative approach, the development of a shared vision and the strong commitment of the project partners towards the creation of a proposal for the benefit of the entire CETAF community show, once again, how strong the community-minded spirit is within our organisation.

We would like to thank all those involved in the development of the proposal, the project partners, the core-team, the representatives from Catalyze and the CETAF Executive Director, who was tireless in her dedication to this community proposal, and, with the submission of this proposal, to us realizing one of the major ambitions behind the formation of the CETAF AISBL.

With our best regards,

The CETAF Executive Committee

Michelle, Erik, Gila, Thierry, Gergely and Eva

Dear CETAF colleagues,

With great enthusiasm, I write to you to inform you that the CETAF TETTRIS proposal has been selected for funding. This is fantastic news for the CETAF AISBL and the CETAF community! Our aspirations for consolidating and upgrading our position as the CETAF community hub for taxonomy will be also supported through this project over the next few years. I certainly believe this constitutes a turning point for CETAF from where we can become more ambitious and more impactful.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your backing and for your collaboration. We can now share in this success for CETAF, as a community, and celebrate this important achievement!.
